Jean (Johnnie) Richard, 76, of Pré-d'en-Haut, died Sunday at Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, after a brief illness.

Johnny RichardBorn in Pré-d'en-Haut, he was a son of the late Mélas and Emilie (Gautreau) Richard and had been a carpenter with Canadian National Railway on retirement. He attended Our Lady of Annonciation Roman Catholic Church, Pré-d'en-Haut, and was a member of Pré-d'en-Haut Golden Age. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the army.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite LeBlanc; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Melanson (Murielle) of Moncton and Mrs. Allison LeBlanc (Denise) of Fox Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Philippe Belliveau (Laurida) of Foyer St. Thomas, St. Joseph, Mrs. Alyre Cormier (Alma) of Dorchester and Mrs. Denis Boudreau (Emilia) of Belliveau Village; a brother, Mélas of Pré-d'en-Haut ; two granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rosalie and Eva, and a brother, Alphée.

The body is at Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook. Funeral mass will be celebrated today at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Annonciation Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
